EquiAttune: Integrating the Neuroexperiential Model with Equine Assisted Healing

EquiAttune is a healing process that synchronizes the nervous system’s natural healing and ability to regulate with the attuned healing presence provided by equines, within the relational and neurobiological frame of Brainspotting. This workshop, part of our Brainspotting workshops, was developed to assist Brainspotting practitioners in creatively applying the Neuroexperiential Model (NEM) and Dual Attunement Frame within equine therapy sessions. Participants will engage with the Uncertainty Principle and stay in the Tail of the Comet through multiple group discussions, experiential activities, demonstrations, and practicums.
Course prerequisites for Mental Health Professionals (MH)
- Proof of completion of Brainspotting Phase I training
- Proof of completion of, or be in the process of, an equine assisted psychotherapy model such as Eagala, PATH, Natural Lifemanship, Gestalt Equine Psychotherapy, OK Corral, etc.
Course Prerequisites for Equine Specialists (ES)
- Must meet the Equine Specialist criteria to hold and maintain Equine Liability Insurance.
Course Requirements
- Attendance and participation on all workshop days
- Participation in the workshop practicums each training day

19.5 CE's can be purchased through Engaged Minds Continuing Education, where Cara Wilkerson serves as Senior Faculty.

Please arrive early as we will begin the workshop daily at 8:00am, and we will end at 4:00pm. Please wear layers as it can be chilly in the mornings and windy, warming up in the afternoons. Lunch will be provided.
Cost
Total cost for the 3-day workshop is $1250.00.
This price includes facility fees, snacks and beverages each day, multiple group experiential activities, 3 EquiAttune demonstrations, and 3 opportunities to practice and receive EquiAttune sessions. Lodging is not included; however, there are nearby options including Idyllwild, a beautiful tourist town with many lodging and restaurant choices, as well as the Temecula Wine Country. There are a few restaurants nearby for lunch, or you are welcome to bring a packed lunch and eat on the property.

Two 2027 Dates TBA (Jan in Orlando, Florida, and April in Southern California)
This Brainspotting workshop is tailored for practitioners interested in EquiAttune: the integration of the Neuroexperiential Model (NEM) with Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning, and no prior equine experience is necessary. This workshop is open to any Phase I trained Brainspotting practitioner, as well as any Equine Specialist. Participants will learn how equines contribute to the Dual Attunement Frame and Mindful Processing within the NEM, experience two group EquiAttune activities, and observe a demonstration of an EquiAttune session. Please note that this workshop does not qualify participants as equine therapy trained providers but serves as an introduction to equine assisted therapy through experiential learning.
Pre-requisites for mental health providers:
- Brainspotting Phase I
- Have read "Brainspotting" by David Grand
No equine experience required.
CEs:
7 CEs can be purchased through Engaged Minds Continuing Education, where Cara Wilkerson serves as Senior Faculty.
